The show features artist’s books of exceptional quality, magical boxes that give rise to true exhibitions, made by UQ! Editions, the artbook publishing house of Leonel Kaz and Lucia Bertazzo. “Books and Art,” is not restricted to the publications, as to provide deeper knowledge, Leonel Kaz also gathered artworks related to each of the nine visual artists. These artist’s books are part of admirable tradition of publications that link art and image.
Countless artist’s books have been the subject of important shows and we could list innumerable Brazilian masterpieces that lie on the border between writing and images. We would like to emphasize the connection with the initiative of the Cem Bibliófilos [100 Booklovers] group, one of whom was Roberto Marinho, who, from 1943 to 1969, commissioned Brazilian artists to produce engravings especially for masterpieces of Brazilian literature.
We are very happy to be opening our spaces to Antonio Dias, Ferreira Gullar, Frans Krajcberg, Leo Battistelli, Luiz Zerbini, Paulo Climachauska, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Roberto Magalhães and Wanda Pimentel.
Reading, artistic practice, and solidarity are all strengthened by this show that reopens Casa Roberto Marinho.
