Roberto Marinho’s private collection, including paintings, prints and sculptures began with a bet on artists of his generation. Many of them were still unknown at that time, such as José Pancetti, Alberto da Veiga Guignard and Candido Portinari.
The inaugural exhibition of Instituto Casa Roberto (ICRM) brings together ten exponents of Brazilian modern art from the 1930s and 1940s: Tarsila, Segall, Portinari, Pancetti, Nery, Guignard, Djanira, Di Cavalcanti, Dacosta and Burle Marx.
The organization of spaces by artist allows the visitor to understand individual trajectories and peculiarities, while offering a comprehensive understanding of the historical period in which the works were produced.
The collector used to visit the studios of Pancetti and Portinari in their early career years, and it was not uncommon to see artists at the Cosme Velho's house. This exhibition is an excellent opportunity to rediscover ten outstanding artists.
